Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971? 13 september 1996), also known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American rapper. Beyond their selling recording artist, Shakur was a film actor of success and a prominent social activist. It is recognized in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest selling rap artist, with over seventy-five million albums sold worldwide, including over fifty million dollars in the United States. Most of Shakur’s songs are about growth amid violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, problems in society and conflicts with other rappers. Shakur’s work is known for its political messages, economic equality, social and racial as well as his raw descriptions of violence, abuse of drugs and alcohol, and conflicts with the law.
